Dual Enrollment: Master of Social Work and Master of Public Health

Social work and public health naturally complement each other by addressing individual and community health, behavioral well-being, and addressing related social justice and advocacy concerns. A social worker aims to enhance the overall well-being and social dynamic among the members of the community. A public health background can provide social workers the opportunity to help individuals, families, and communities in a more comprehensive way than social work alone. The Master of Public Health (MPH) provides a background in the various factors that affect the health of the general public by providing coursework in the foundational and core areas of public health (leadership, community engagement, health equity, biostatistics, epidemiology, administration and policy, social and behavioral aspects, and environmental aspects).

  • Students from all Master of Social Work (MSW) concentrations (Clinical, OCL, Advanced Standing) can pursue dual enrollment with any of the MPH concentrations (Generalist, Rural Public Health, Public Health Data Management and Analytics).
