MPH Program Associate Director, Associate Professor

Connie Currier, DrPH, MPH is an associate professor and associate director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. She holds a Doctor of Public Health in Health Policy and a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Currier’s work focuses on health equity, global public health, community engagement, and experiential learning. She has more than three decades of experience in public health education, international health, and program development, including extensive work in Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Latin America. Drawing on her early experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Ghana, she has led and co-developed numerous study abroad and applied practice experiences, integrating social justice and cultural competence into public health training.

She has developed and taught numerous undergraduate and graduate public health courses, including Introduction to Public Health, Global Public Health, Poverty and Public Health, Cultural Aspects of Public Health Practice and applied practice and capstone courses. Her scholarship includes publications on global health, community-based research, online public health education, and menstrual health in Ghana. She has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching, service, and community-engaged scholarship, and has played a key leadership role in MPH program accreditation and curriculum development.
