Lydia Sanchez Merritt, MAIT, CHRS, has more than 20 years of experience across the education, technology, healthcare, and business sectors. She holds an associate degree in business administration, a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in marketing, advertising, and promotion, and a Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in instructional technology. She also holds a Certified Human Resource Specialist (CHRS) credential.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Merritt held progressively expanding roles at St. Clair County Community College, where she advised students and supported faculty through teaching, instructional technology integration, and program development. Prior to joining Michigan State University, she served as Training and Integration Specialist Lead in the Clinical Systems Research and Integration Department at Henry Ford Health System, where she trained physicians and surgeons on business applications, SharePoint Designer, and the Epic electronic medical record system.
With more than 15 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Merritt currently teaches in the University of Michigan–Flint School of Nursing. Her teaching focuses on technology and informatics in healthcare. She teaches NSC 373: Technology in Healthcare and co-teaches NSC 345: Nursing and Healthcare Informatics.
Currently, Mrs. Merritt manages online learning operations and supports data reporting, assessment, curriculum, and instructional technology initiatives for Michigan State University’s Master of Public Health program. She partners with faculty to support course design and development, online teaching, program evaluation, competency tracking, and continuous improvement.
